Bien entretenir son t-shirt marinière

The sailor top is THE item of clothing that we like to wear in all circumstances. For adults or children, this sailor t-shirt has become an essential in every wardrobe. We make our All’Océan sailor tops in 100% cotton Oeko-Tex certified (and even GOTS certified organic cotton for the new collection!) or in a viscose and linen blend, depending on the model. We ensure the quality of our raw materials so that your striped t-shirt will accompany you for many years! To help you preserve your garment over time, here are some care and washing tips from your favorite Breton sailor top.

Proper washing

Start by turning the sailor shirt over to wash it inside out. The colors will thus avoid bleaching and the fabric will not pill by avoiding the friction of the material against the washing machine drum. Screen prints and buttons (as for the Transat Kids sailor top) will be protected from mechanical attacks due to the movement of the washing machine drum.

Then place the garment in a washing net, if you have one, with similar colored pieces. Also be sure to close the zippers (or zips) of other clothing, which could get caught on delicate fabrics such as the lace of the Drisse women's sailor top.

Put everything in your washing machine. Set the temperature to 30°C (except for certain fragile textiles as mentioned on the label) and add a reasonable dose of detergent (you can refer to the advice given on the packaging of your usual detergent ). All you have to do is start your machine.

We advise you to always wash your new sailor tops before wearing them. Likewise, avoid using fabric softener.

And for stubborn stains?

Your children frolicked in the garden or on the sand with their sailor top, while having their snack? Don't panic about the tasks! Clean them delicately with Marseille soap or beef gall. Then rinse in cold water and machine wash the t-shirt.

Onstains such as coffee, wine or even ink, you can also use white vinegar diluted in water, blot with a cloth.

Do not use bleach, which will discolor and slightly burn the fabric of the sailor top. Always rinse with cold water rather than hot water when removing by hand. Finally, always gently dab the fabric so as not to deform the stitches of the garment.

Natural drying
to preserve the fibers of the striped shirt

We always favor natural drying because tumble drying weakens the fabric. By drying the sailor t-shirt in the open air, indoors or outdoors, you will sustainably preserve the fibers of the garment.

Position the sailor top flat so as not to deform it, especially if it contains linen like the women's sailor top Pélican tank top. If you dry your laundry outdoors, do not place it in direct sunlight as this could damage it.

The question of ironing
the sailor t-shirt

Your sailor top is clean and dry. You can now choose to wear it immediately or iron it, depending on your preference.

In this case, always set your iron to medium heat, so as not to burn and weaken the fibers of the fabric. Also turn the t-shirt over to iron it inside out. This easy-to-apply technique will allow you to avoid a rather unsightly polishing effect on the fabric and premature aging of the garment.

Finally, if your marinière is personalized, by applying iron upside down, you will protect the embroidery even more.

In all cases, you can refer to the visible indications on the label of your sailor top.
